Sister Betty was known for her easy laugh, constant smile and lightheartedness that often manifested in her wonderfully spontaneous dancing.
Born in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, Sister Betty initially entered the Sisters of Christian Charity at age 18 and professed her perpetual vows in 1963. In 1980 Sister Betty transferred to the Sisters of Mercy in Dallas, Pennsylvania.
A graduate of College Misericordia in Dallas, Pennsylvania, Sister Betty earned a degree in elementary education. She loved teaching the younger grades in the dioceses of Scranton, Pennsylvania, and Trenton, New Jersey.
She was a dedicated and passionate teacher until 2016 when she became a volunteer at Mercy Center in Dallas, Pennsylvania. Initially she was the director of their preschool program for seven years then she served as a tutor. Next, she ministered to the elderly. She made that transition seamlessly bringing her same light and energy to older residents each day.
