Age 97
Sister Ann Driscoll brought joy and happiness to her ministry, a testament to her profound spiritual depth.
Born in Stoneboro, Pennsylvania, Ann entered the Sisters of Mercy at the age of 19. She received a BA degree from Mount Mercy College (now Carlow University) and an MA from Seattle University. She taught for many years in Catholic elementary schools in the Pittsburgh Diocese.
Sister Ann spent seven years teaching eighth grade at Academia Catolica in San Juan, Puerto Rico.
In 1967, she was asked to go to Chimbote, Peru, where the Sisters of Mercy had just opened a mission. She served there for 11 years, describing her ministry to the people of Chimbote as the best thing that ever happened to her. The people of Chimbote deeply loved her.
In 1991, Sister Ann moved to Holy Cross Convent in Fort Lauderdale, Florida. She ministered at Holy Cross Hospital as a chaplain in the Spiritual Care Department for 18 years before returning to the Convent of Mercy in Pittsburgh where she pursued volunteer and support-staff duties.
Sister Ann often expressed gratitude for God’s call to be a Sister of Mercy. She often mentioned that her years in Community have been happy, fulfilling years living with educated, dedicated and spiritually committed women.
