Sister Ann Driscoll brought joy and happiness to her ministry, a testament to her profound spiritual depth.
Born in Stoneboro, Pennsylvania, she entered the Sisters of Mercy in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, at the age of 19. She received bachelor degrees from Mount Mercy College (now Carlow University) in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, in mathematics in 1962 and in Spanish in 1975. She also earned a master’s degree in religious education from Seattle University in Seattle, Washington.
Sister Ann taught for 11 years in Catholic elementary schools in the Pittsburgh Diocese and for seven years teaching eighth grade at Academia Catolica in San Juan, Puerto Rico. In 1967, she was asked to go to Chimbote, Peru, where the Sisters of Mercy had just opened a mission. For five years, she ministered as the director of religious education at St. Maurice parish in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. She went on a six month sabbatical to Fraternidad Misionera de Maria in Guatemala City, Guatemala.
In 1991, Sister Ann moved to Holy Cross Convent in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, and ministered as a chaplain at Holy Cross Hospital for 17 years before returning to the Convent of Mercy in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, where she pursued volunteer and support-staff duties.
