Age 87
Sister Virginia Ann Froehle, RSM (formerly Sister Rosaire), was a Sister of Mercy for 69 years.
Sister Virginia earned a Bachelor of Arts in English from Our Lady of Cincinnati College and a Master of Arts from Marquette University, a Secondary-School Administrative certification from Xavier, and studied some theology at Xavier.
Much of her early ministry involved teaching English to high school students. Later she worked as a pastoral minister and an editor at St. Anthony Messenger. From 1991–2018, she did retreat work and spiritual direction. She was a freelance writer. She published three books and three audiocassettes, along with numerous articles. Besides being an accomplished author, Sister Virginia was passionate about social justice issues, especially women’s rights and care for the earth.
