Age 82
A talented, caring and special friend, Sister Rose’s response and assistance to people in need was always prompt, generous and gracious.
Born in Kansas City, Kansas, Sister Rose entered the community in Omaha at the age of 25. She attended Creighton University in Omaha, Nebraska, and earned a bachelor’s degree in business administration and her master’s degree in management. With her strong background in finances, she ministered in the Omaha Regional Community Finance Office for eight years. She traveled around the Omaha Province (later the West Midwest Region) fulfilling many financial and technology roles. She was instrumental in the formation of Catholic Health Corporation, later Catholic Health Initiatives (CHI).
When computers came into use, Rose learned all their ins and outs. She was the “go-to” person for any technological challenges. For nine years, Rose served as a technology specialist, ministering at the Archdiocese of Omaha Catholic Schools Office. Next, she ministered for six years at Sacred Heart, an elementary school in Omaha, as a technology specialist.
Then she served for three years as the finance director at Mercy International Centre in Dublin, Ireland, the home of Catherine McAuley, the founder of the Sisters of Mercy. Next she returned to Omaha as the community technology assistant.
“Officially retired” in 2023, she began the transition to just relaxing and enjoying the community at Immanuel Village Independent Living in Omaha, Nebraska. A devoted reader, she kept learning until the end.
