Age 93
Sister Marie Hartmann (former Sister Mary de Pazzi) was a Sister of Mercy for 76 years. Sister Marie was born in Cincinnati, attended Our Lady of Mercy High School, and entered the Sisters of Mercy on September 8, 1946. She earned her nursing degree from Mercy Hospital, Hamilton. Her early assignments involved surgery in Coldwater, Ohio, and at Mercy Hospital, Hamilton. In 1978 she earned a Master of School Administration from the University of Notre Dame. From 1966 to 1981, she served in administrative roles at Our Lady of Mercy Hospital, Coldwater, and Mercy Hospital Hamilton. From 1982-1998 she served on the Cincinnati Sisters of Mercy Leadership Team as a councilor and served eight years as regional president. Her final ministry was volunteering at the Bon Secour Mercy Health System, where she acted as a consultant and provided a Mercy presence.
