Age 80

Sister Gloria Morin (formerly Sister Mary Matthias Peter) was a Sister of Mercy for 62 years, A native of Claremont, New Hampshire, she held a B.A. in education from Mount Saint Mary College, Hooksett, New Hampshire, and an M.S. in elementary education from Wheelock College, Boston, Massachusetts.

She was a dedicated educator who taught at St. Raphael School, Blessed Sacrament School, St. George School, St. Catherine School, and Mount Saint Mary Early Childhood Center (now Mount Saint Mary Academy) in Manchester, and Sacred Heart School in Lebanon, New Hampshire. She taught computer technology in the Teach to the Future Program for elementary and high school teachers and was an adjunct faculty member at Mount Saint Mary Early Childhood Center and Notre Dame College, Manchester.

From 1976 to 2000, Sister Gloria was director at Mount Saint Mary Early Childhood Center/Mount Saint Mary Academy, and from 2000 to 2009 was the principal at the school. From 2009 until her retirement in 2012, she was head of Mount Saint Mary Academy.

Sister Gloria was a member of the boards of trustees for Mount Saint Mary Academy and Marian Court College in Swampscott, Massachusetts, and a member of the Manchester Diocesan Math and Science Committees. She was involved in the University of New Hampshire Career Opportunity Program, the Moore House Project, and the Bill Gates Technology Program.

After her retirement, Sister Gloria remained active, volunteering, doing community outreach and enjoying outdoor activities. She had a great love of nature and felt it was important to have a nature-based program for students, getting them outdoors as much as possible.
