Sister Barbara Foley (formerly Sister Mary Clarella) was a Sister of Mercy for 75 years.
Sister Barbara is remembered as a quiet sister, as well as one who enjoyed her ministry of education as both teacher and director of religious education at St. Teresa school in Pawtucket, Rhode Island. She began her teaching ministry in New Bedford, Massachusetts, followed by Westerly and Woonsocket, Rhode Island, and finally to St. Teresa’s, where she was a member of the parish faculty and staff for 36 years.
In 2016 she moved to Mount St. Rita Health Centre in Cumberland, Rhode Island, where she immersed herself in the ministry of prayer and presence for all residents and staff. Sister Barbara’s quiet, generous and cheerful presence will be missed by all who knew and loved her.
