Age 90

Sister Anne McCrohan was a Sister of Mercy for 72 years. Sister Anne had a desire to give her life to God.  She said, “I just had the desire to do something special with the life God gave me.” For her, that something special took the form of dedicating her life to the service of those who were poor, sick, and uneducated as a Sister of Mercy.

Sister Anne spent 25 years as a junior high teacher in Catholic Schools throughout the diocese of Sacramento and two years at Bishop Manogue High School. She transitioned to parish ministry in 1979 and spent ten years ministering at St. John Parish Chico, St. Paul Parish, Sacramento, and Queen of Peace at Mather Air Force Base.

In 1990, Sister Anne trained as a hospital chaplain and spent twenty years bringing comfort and care to the sick, their families, and staff at Mercy San Juan Hospital.
