Age 90

The motto of Sister Mary Paulette, “For Thee my Lord” served her well, as she was always happy doing God’s work, especially for people who were poor and disabled.

Paulette entered the Sisters of Mercy at the age of 19 with her sister Marion. She attributed her willingness to remain a Sister of Mercy to God, Marion and the lasting friendships she made during those formative years.

With a bachelor’s degree in nursing from St. Xavier University (Chicago) and a master’s degree in nursing from the University of Michigan, she ministered as a nurse for 36 years. Throughout her health care career she served in six Mercy hospitals in Wisconsin, Illinois, Iowa and Michigan. Her last and most beloved mission was her 32 years with the children and adults at Misericordia Home for individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities in Chicago.

Paulette lived in gratitude every day of her life and told friends and family over and over again, “I’ve had such a great life, I’m fearful that I’m getting my Heaven here on earth.”
