As a Sister of Mercy, Jean Schulte (formerly known as Sister Henri) acknowledges how blessed she has been, beginning with a happy childhood shared with five siblings – four sisters and one brother – on the family farm in Burlington, Iowa. It was there that Jean first met the Sisters of Mercy, and following high school entered the community in 1951.
Her wonderful sense of humor, gift of story-telling and love for classical music are gifts she has continued to share during her long illness and following many years of service as a teacher, principal, director of religious education and pastoral associate in the Chicago area.
