September 24, 2024, will mark the 197th anniversary of the opening of the House of Mercy on Baggot Street in 1827.
For our commemoration of Mercy Day this year, we are featuring five reflections, written by sisters and associates, on each of the Critical Concerns. Each reflection focuses on how Mercy is addressing these concerns in the current day, and also on how each is deeply rooted in the corporal and spiritual Works of Mercy, the mission of Catherine McAuley and the charism of the Sisters of Mercy.
“The corporal and spiritual works of mercy which draw religious from a life of contemplation, so far from separating them from the love of God, unite them much more closely to Him and render them more valuable in His holy service.”
Catherine McAuley, The Spirit of the Institute
Reflections will be posted every few days from now until Mercy Day. To read each reflection, click the name of the Critical Concern below. Note: the link will be active when underlined.
