I grew up in the Rift Valley region of Kenya, a breathtaking place known for its beautiful landscapes and rich cultural heritage. My childhood was shaped by the warmth of family, a close-knit community, and the values of faith, hard work, and respect for others. Growing up in such a beautiful environment taught me to appreciate God’s creation and instilled in me a deep sense of gratitude and resilience that continues to guide my life today.
I first met the Sisters of Mercy after completing high school. I attended my cousin’s perpetual vows as a Sister of Mercy, and that experience became a turning point in my life. Witnessing her joyful commitment and spending time with the sisters left a lasting impression on me. Their genuine compassion, simplicity, and dedication to serving others inspired me to learn more about their way of life.
I chose to become a Sister of Mercy because I was deeply moved by my interactions with the sisters. Their kindness, humility, and joyful spirit reflected God’s love in a very real way. As I got to know them better, I felt drawn to their mission of serving those in need with compassion and dignity. Through prayer and discernment, I recognized this calling as God’s invitation to dedicate my life to serving Him and others as a Sister of Mercy.
I currently serve as an accountant at St. Joseph Mercy Hospital in Guyana. Although my role is administrative, I see it as an important ministry that supports the hospital’s mission of providing compassionate healthcare. I believe every contribution, whether direct or behind the scenes, helps ensure that patients receive quality care. My work allows me to use my professional skills in service of the Church and the community.
In my leisure time, I enjoy reading motivational books, biographies, and inspiring articles because they encourage personal growth and broaden my perspective on life. I also love adventuring and discovering new places, cultures, and experiences. These activities help me relax, renew my energy, and appreciate the diversity and beauty of the world around me.
One of my favorite books is The Road Less Traveled by M. Scott Peck. I appreciate it because it challenges me to reflect on my daily life, grow in self-discipline, and embrace personal and spiritual growth. The book continually reminds me that meaningful growth often comes through perseverance, honesty, and a willingness to face life’s challenges with faith and courage.
