Sister Phylis Gaudreau was a Sister of Mercy for 57 years. She was a creative person who used her gifts and talents for very young children locally and in the Sisters of Mercy mission in Belize, Central America. While there, she founded the Catholic Diocese Child Development Center, the first of its kind in Belize. True to the spirit of empowerment of local residents, Phylis trained and hired a staff of Belizian women.
Phylis was a lover of art and an artist herself. She also enjoyed theater, especially the local Community Players of Pawtucket. She will be remembered as a quiet and unassuming artist who brought a sense of beauty to the lives of children.
