Age 74
Marie Ann lived her motto, “Jesus Lord,” in full measure, keeping her heartbeat with the heart of Jesus, responding to the rise and fall of each crescendo of life as it played out in her entire being.
A gifted young woman and talented musician, she entered the Sisters of Mercy in Merion, Pennsylvania, after graduating from Little Flower High School in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. As a young sister, Marie Ann’s love of God and others, exceptional musical ability, and generous nature drew others to her as friend and companion.
Marie Ann held a bachelor’s degree in education from Gwynedd Mercy College in Gwynedd Valley, Pennsylvania, and a master’s degree in liturgical music from Catholic University in Washington, D.C. Initially, she taught junior high in parish schools in the Archdiocese of Philadelphia. Next, she served as the department chair of music at Gwynedd Mercy Academy, in Gwynedd Valley, Pennsylvania, and then director of liturgical music at St. Andrews parish in Newtown, Pennsylvania.
Realizing a call to those seeking to deepen their relationship with God, Marie Ann pursued a certification in spiritual direction. In this ministry, Marie Ann companioned countless travelers on life’s journey in search of meaning and fulfillment. Most recently, Marie Ann ministered at the Convent of Mercy in Merion, Pennsylvania, as coordinator of liturgies and musician for community celebrations.
