Age 89
Sister Kathleen Bayer was a Sister of Mercy for 71 years. She earned an Associate in Applied Science degree from Catherine McAuley College, a Bachelor of Science in education from Nazareth College of Rochester and Permanent Certification for teaching from New York State.
She ministered as a teacher in New York at St. Thomas the Apostle and St. Rita in Webster, St. Ann’s in Hornell, St. Joseph in Penfield, Annunciation School and St. Mary’s in Corning, and St. Salome’s. She then went to St. Raphael Hospital in Connecticut for clinical pastoral education. For more than 20 years, she served as a pastoral assistant in Elmira, New York, at SS. Peter & Paul Parish for nine years and Eastside Catholic Parish for 13 years.
