Age 82

The words “gratitude to others” typify Sister Eileen’s life.

At the age of 22, she entered the Sisters of Mercy in Cumberland, Rhode Island.

A dedicated teacher, she taught middle school for 38 years in the Providence, Rhode Island, and Fall River, Massachusetts dioceses.  Young children of all ages in Fall River and Taunton, Massachusetts as well as in Providence, West Warwick, and Central Falls not only learned their “ABC’s,” but also benefited from her artistic ability. And, as if those gifts were not sufficient, she went back to school and earned a master’s degree in computer science.

In retirement, she was a cherished volunteer for ten years at the Warde-robe in Central Falls, Rhode Island, a Mercy-sponsored thrift store ministry. She shared her time, talent, and heart with all. She was truly an inspiration, not only in her service to the shop but also in her life, touching the lives of so many as a devoted teacher and lifelong learner.
