Inspired by her motto, “Sweet Heart of Jesus, be my Love,” Sister Dolores embraced and shared the love of Jesus through her kindness, simplicity, sensitivity, good humor, and joy.
A proud graduate of Little Flower High School in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, Sister Dolores entered the Sisters of Mercy at the age of 18 in Merion, Pennsylvania. She held a bachelor’s degree in English from Villanova University in Villanova, Pennsylvania, and a master’s degree in religious studies from St. Charles Seminary in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.
A teacher in the Archdiocese of Philadelphia and the Diocese of Allentown, Pennsylvania, for over 28 years, she taught elementary school for 19 years and English, history and theology at the secondary school level for nine years. After retiring from teaching, Dolores remained in ministry at Cardinal O’Hara High School in Springfield, Pennsylvania, serving in the attendance office and assisting wherever needed.
She returned to the Convent of Mercy in Merion, Pennsylvania, where she continued to bring her selfless and generous heart of mercy to her family, friends, and sisters in community. Her spirit of generosity and hospitality drew many people to her side as friend, supporter, confidant, and companion.
