Age 79
For 56 years, Sister Anna Louise served the people of God and for 24 of those years she taught elementary school students in the Diocese of Biloxi, Mississippi.
Born, raised and educated in Gulfport, Mississippi, she entered the Sisters of Mercy in St. Louis, Missouri, in 1966. She earned a bachelor’s degree in social studies from Maryville College in St. Louis and did additional study in early childhood and elementary education.
She worked at schools in Missouri, Texas, and Mississippi serving in various capacities, such as childcare giver, teacher and administrator. In her later years, she ministered as a human resources assistant at Mercy Hospital in New Orleans and a bookkeeper at Our Lady Academy in Bay St. Louis, Mississippi. In December 2021, Anna Louise moved to Mobile, Alabama, for surgery for a brain tumor from which she never fully recovered.
