The Program Director is responsible for all programmatic functions of Mount Saint Mary House of Prayer (MSMHP). This includes creating, planning and implementing sponsored, hosted, virtual and hybrid events as well as participating in all fundraising activities. The services will be provided with a spirit of hospitality and compassion that embodies the charism of the Sisters of Mercy and in accordance with all Sisters of Mercy policies and procedures. Location: Watchung, New Jersey.

The mission of Mount Saint Mary House of Prayer, rooted in the Gospel and the charism of the Sisters of Mercy, is to provide a sacred space, prayer experiences, and spirituality programs that help adults of any faith to encounter the God of mercy and share that mercy with others. The mission moves beyond the House of Prayer to any place where we share our ministry.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Creating, organizing, presenting and coordinating a variety of retreats, workshops, programs and services for both onsite and off-site in consultation with the Executive Director and Program Committee with the expectation of growing our audience and engaging participants
  • Developing annual program calendar in collaboration with Executive Director, Program Committee and volunteers
  • Provide spiritual direction onsite and direct retreats off-site; oversee coordination of monthly peer group
  • Assess programs with the Executive Director and Program Committee
  • Coordinate volunteers and supervise the Volunteer Coordinator
  • Assist Executive Director with tasks, planning, presence at programs/events and assist with overnight coverage
  • Participate on the Advisory Council and Executive Team
  • Other related duties and responsibilities

QUALIFICATIONS:

Education, Competencies and Experience

  • Masters in theology, spirituality, religious studies or pastoral counseling
  • Certified spiritual and retreat director
  • Minimum 3 years administrative experience
  • Demonstrated experience offering programs
  • Excellent verbal, written and interpersonal skills
  • Proficient in MS Office, Zoom and hybrid offerings

Preferred Qualifications

  • Embrace the mission and values of the Sisters of Mercy and MSMHP
  • Ability to work evenings, weekends in a flexible schedule
  • Highly organized with attention to detail
  • Certified supervisor a plus but not required
  • Fluency in Spanish desirable
  • Creative and flexible
  • Ability to network and interact with a broad base of individuals/organizations
  • Ability to work collaboratively in team setting
