Age 88

Sister Marian Rose truly embodied her motto, “Live in me as I live in you.” Wherever she was she gave her heart and soul to the needs of the people she served.

She entered the former Burlingame (California) community at the age of 19, initially teaching elementary school in the San Francisco and Los Angeles archdioceses, first as a classroom educator, then administrator, and religious education coordinator.

Next, she served for four years as the director of postulants and ministered with sisters in the process of joining the community. Then she served for three years as the principal and religious education coordinator at St. Athanasius in Mountain View, California.

In 1978 she went to St. Peter’s Parish in San Francisco’s Mission District fulfilling her desire to work with those who are economically poor. She learned Spanish to better connect with the students and families and truly became an integral part of the neighborhood and the parish community. She served as a link to alumni and others who desired to fund a strong education for those who might not otherwise have access to it. For 38 years she served in many roles: principal, co-principal, vice principal, religion coordinator, financial development director, alumni relations, and a loving mentor to many.
