Age 80
Sister Emily (Mimi) Therese Connor devoted her life to education on the elementary and secondary levels. Her quick wit and plentiful repertoire of jokes resonated with her students.
A member of the first graduating class (1960) of Archbishop Prendergast High School, an all-girls diocesan school in the Philadelphia suburbs, Emily taught religion and Latin in several high schools in the Philadelphia and Allentown dioceses including her alma mater as well as at Walsingham Academy, a high school in Williamsburg, Virginia, sponsored by the Sisters of Mercy.
After taking a year sabbatical in 1986, Mimi decided to change ministries and become a pastoral minister in rural Campton, Kentucky. For Mimi, they were the happiest six years of her life. Her love of her family brought her immense joy, so she decided to move back to the Philadelphia area to minister to the poor and marginalized working people at Holy Innocents Parish. Next she served as the school minister at Mercy Career and Technical High School for five years. In her retirement, she volunteered
at Mercy Neighborhood Ministries as a GED tutor preparing students for the high school equivalency tests.
