Age 78
Sister Elaine, formerly Sister M. Sharon Ann, was an educator, administrator and volunteer during her 60 years as a Sister of Mercy. She was a teacher and principal in elementary schools and director of education in the Buffalo, New York, Diocese. Other administrative posts included coordinator of teachers at Mount Mercy Academy, her alma mater, and director of continuing education at Trocaire College. For the Sisters of Mercy, she served two terms in leadership as a councilor, coordinated renovations to Mercy Center and directed administrative services. Also, she worked in the development office.
Sister Elaine once said in an interview, “I find my life in Community, with the opportunity to be of service and to meet people and hear their ‘stories,’ has enriched my life.”
