Age 83

Sister Ana Rosa de la Cruz-Segarra was a native of Puerto Rico and a Sister of Mercy for 66 years. Entering the Sisters of Mercy from San Mateo, Santurce, in 1954, she professed final vows in 1960 and taught in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, area Catholic schools before returning to Puerto Rico. There, she taught and was principal of three schools before returning to Pittsburgh in 2009.

On the occasion of her 65th Jubilee, Sister Ana Rosa wrote: “It wasn’t easy leaving [Puerto Rico] and re-entering a community so different from the one I entered … but God’s loving mercy gave me the courage to step into the future with trust and joy.”
