The shawl of God’s Mercy embraces the children and adolescents of Casa Corazón with tenderness and hope. Though invisible, it is profoundly real: a mantle of love that protects them in countless ways. It is made visible through the hands, hearts and gestures of so many generous people who, throughout the years, have ensured that nothing is ever lacking.

This shawl is a constant sign of God’s love for these children: it shields them from harm, guides their steps, and reminds them at every moment that they are not alone. Casa Corazón in Honduras is a place of unique care, protection and faith. Here, the youngest are welcomed with dignity and joy, while adolescents are given the space to grow, learn, and dream of a brighter future.
Many of the children who once laughed and played here have grown into adulthood. With maturity comes responsibilities and challenges that in childhood felt far away. Yet the shawl of God has never been lifted. Instead, it has adapted to new realities—renewing strength when it seemed depleted, bringing peace amid uncertainty, and manifesting God’s unwavering fidelity in every stage of life.

God’s mercy is revealed not only in the spiritual, but also in the concrete: in a plate of food lovingly shared, in the safety of a home, in educational support that opens doors, in the educator who listens attentively, in the smile of each staff member, and in the generosity of those whose donations sustain this mission. All these gestures form part of that protective cloak that stretches over the Casa Corazón community day after day.
At Casa Corazón, we believe God’s love is made tangible in daily life, and that His cloak of mercy and tenderness will continue to be a shelter for those who need it most. For as long as there are hearts willing to serve, there will be threads of God’s shawl extending to protect, guide and renew the hope of every child and adolescent who finds a home here. We are deeply grateful to the Sisters of Mercy, who have extended the Shawl of God’s Mercy!
