I grew up in a very racially diverse section of the city of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. I had wonderful parents and neighbors who were supportive of all my endeavors as I “tested” my talents and gifts.
I became a Sister of Mercy several reasons! Even though I did not attend any Mercy schools, I was always impressed with the Sisters’ joyfulness and hospitality as I encountered them throughout my life. I was able to know them better when I was asked to co-facilitate the former Institute Anti-Racial Transformation Team. In order to get to know the Sisters better, I read Catherine McAuley’s biography and felt very “in sync” with her call to serve God and God’s marginalized. As a woman of color, I also am grateful for the Mercy Alliance of the Sisters of Color who are supportive of one another and our ministries.
I am Associate Director for Mission Integration and Formation for the Institute Office of Ministry. I work with many our English-speaking social service and spirituality ministries, staffs and boards to ensure that they have the materials and resources they need to deepen the Mercy charism among their employees and Board Members.
I also have an eclectic taste in music! I am a musician and I enjoy everything from classical to contemporary to jazz and pop. I also enjoy listening to choral music because I presently sing with a small group called the Ignatian Schola.
