We, the Sisters of Mercy of the Americas, offer our prayers for President Donald Trump as he begins his second term as president of the United States. We pray for guidance and wisdom for this new administration.
We hope and pray this new administration will seek to unite the nation and work for the good of all, in this country and around the world, since policy actions in the United States have global ramifications.
We pray his administration will choose to denounce violence, racism, and hateful rhetoric.
As a congregation of women religious founded to care for the sick and the poor, and who serve all who need aid, especially migrants and those fleeing violence, we pray he will use his authority to find a humane approach to immigration. No matter our country of birth, we are all God’s people.
Inspired by the Gospel, the Sisters of Mercy devote ourselves to service and try to place the needs of others above our own. With the help of God we pray that all leaders will do the same.
We are also committed to care for the Earth and pray you will join us in finding ways to protect our common home.
We will continue to work for the values of the Gospel and our Critical Concerns, which call on us to welcome the stranger and protect women and children and those in need. May all know and experience God’s love and peace and act accordingly.
