Taking time for yourself in service to God and others can result in a life-changing experience – the type of experience that a year or more with Mercy Volunteer Corps can provide.
Founded in 1978 by the Sisters of Mercy, Mercy Volunteer Corps invites women and men to a year of full-time service with people who are economically poor or marginalized. Volunteers commit to compassionate service, a simple community lifestyle and spiritual growth.
Whether Mercy Volunteer Corps volunteers are teaching on the Navajo reservation in Arizona, serving the needs of people who are homeless in Sacramento, California, caring for persons living with HIV/AIDS in Baltimore, Maryland, or mentoring boys who live in an orphanage in Guyana, South America, their mission is common – service in the spirit of mercy. A year with Mercy Volunteer Corps challenges volunteers to be extraordinary, to expand beliefs and look at the world through a new set of eyes.
